In My Mailbox (5)

Well, it was a slow week for me, book-wise, but I did snag a couple of great reads to feature on In My Mailbox. Both books have gorgeous covers, interesting story lines, and are the first book in a trilogy. The first book “in my mailbox” was sent to me by the author, in eBook format for my NOOK. (Thank you, Michelle!) The second book I actually broke down and bought myself, after reading dozens of rave reviews. I am very excited about my tiny, amazing book haul this week! GoodReads | Amazon Neither of these are brand-new releases, but they’re new to me 🙂 Have you read either of these? What did you think of them? What was in your mailbox this week? Leave some “comment love” below and a link to your IMM post. I’ll be sure to stop by and say Hi!...

Healing the Faith Blog Tour

Please join me in welcoming Michele Richard to the BlookGirl Blog! Michele’s newest novel, Healing the Faith is due out on February 9, 2012, and this special visit is part of the Healing the Faith Blog Tour: Please take a moment to read the BlookGirl Review for both Mocked by Faith and Healing the Faith. As part of her visit, Michele has answered several questions about the book, herself, and her writing process. I hope you enjoy her answers as much as I did! ~ ~ ~ BlookGirl: Michele, thank you for stopping by BlookGirl on your Blog Tour for Healing the Faith, the sequel to Mocked by Faith. I am sure the readers of this blog will enjoy getting to know more about you in this Q&A session 🙂 Michele: Thank you for allowing me to stop by! Fire away! BlookGirl: Did you know when writing Mocked by Faith that the story would continue into another novel? Michele: As the story grew into its own, I knew a second book would be needed. I just couldn’t get it all in without it being huge. What I didn’t expect was for it to take three novels to complete. BlookGirl: What came to you first – the characters or the story? Michele: The story. It’s always about the idea first then the characters form and develop as it unfolds. BlookGirl: What was the hardest part...

In My Mailbox (4)

I absolutely cannot believe it’s already time for another installment of In My Mailbox! Kristi over at TheStorySiren must feel absolutely overwhelmed sometimes! This week, all my books were free! I got a free NOOK Book from Barnes & Noble and scored three e-Galleys, thanks to some generous publishers at NetGalley. I am really excited to read these books, especially as two of them were already on my TBR list on GoodReads. But enough about me and more about these great books! I also received The Peculiars by Maureen Doyle McQuerry from NetGalley, but there are not yet any suitable cover images for the book. Special thanks to Random House and ABRAMS for the review copies 🙂 Have you read any of these books? Are any of them on your TBR List? What did you have in your mailbox this week? Share some “comment love” with me...

Recap: The Fault in Our Stars Tour (Houston)

On Friday, January 20, 2012, Houston was graced with the presence of the Vlog Brothers, John and Hank Green. The former being the best-selling author of books such as Looking for Alaska andThe Fault in Our Stars; the latter being the ever-so-witty writer of songs such as “A Song about Anglerfish” and “Accio Deathly Hallows”. (My personal favorite is the “Strange Charm” (Quark) song!) I was there, of course, more for John Green, as he was promoting The Fault in Our Stars. The event was put on by an amazing local indie book store, the Blue Willow Bookshop, and was hosted at a local high school. I dashed right over after work, 45 minutes before the show was to start, and was not particularly surprised by the droves of fans and Nerdfighters that were already lined up to snag their pre-autographed copies of The Fault in Our Stars. I grabbed my copy…: … and squealed when I saw the J-squiggle and Hank’s now-famous Anglerfish signature 🙂 After grinning like a fool for a minute, I made my way immediately into the auditorium for the show, but not before casting a few longing glances at the table selling red T-shirts that said: KEEP CALM AND DFBTA! Thankfully, I was able to snag a seat in the third or fourth row, stage right, and settled in to people-watch. Teens, young adults, and adults...
