Well, as I'm sure you can guess, "The Blook Girl" is not actually on my Birth Certificate.
My name is Katie Tuccelli.
I live to write, I love to read, and I am a coffee addict. These may or may not be understatements.
I am twenty-six and living in Houston (with my two precious dogs) as an “economic refugee” from Florida. I’ve been here for over three years, and I’ve not looked back since! I write as a passion, but would love to do it for a living. I’ve been trying to get up the courage to let go of the security of a "day job" and say, “To heck with it!” and do what I really love. I think that time may come sooner than I think.
I come from a long-line of book lovers. Ever since I can remember, books and stories have been a big part of my life. Before I could read, my father would tell me bedtime stories and send me off into dreams of the fantastical creatures and distant lands formed by his words. Once I learned to read on my own, I was unstoppable. I’d sneak books to the dinner table, I’d ask for books as gifts, and I consumed books from the library like candy. I was blessed to have parents who encouraged a love of reading, and as such, they gave me subscriptions to The Baby-Sitter’s Club, Sweet Valley Twins, Nancy Drew, and The Hardy Boys. To say I was obsessed would be an understatement!
In my teenage and young adult years, I found other interests, such as writing, music and singing, saltwater aquaria, and specialty coffee. I went through my fallow periods with reading, but I always inevitably returned to my old literary friends. About one year ago, in January 2012, I discovered a new love: Book Blogging! What better way to combine my love of reading and writing than to write about reading?!
I read mostly YA novels, though I do make time for some MG and Adult novels, too. I find that I still really enjoy reading series because it gives me a chance to really bond with the characters and invest in their stories. Some of my favorites are The Hunger Games and The Divergent Trilogy, and others that are becoming series, such as Masque of the Red Death, Cinder, Under the Never Sky, and Hemlock. I do also enjoy stand-alone novels, such as A Fine and Private Place, by my literary hero, Peter S. Beagle. I love discovering new authors and genres and am open to read almost anything!
I love adventures and surprises, and I welcome a challenge. I am not perfect, but honesty, trustworthiness, a good sense of humor, creativity, faithfulness, thoughtfulness, passion, and a willingness to grow are all qualities that I continuously strive to hone and perfect.
